Pharmacy is a transitional field between health sciences and chemical sciences and a profession charged with ensuring the safe use of medication. Pharmaceutics is the study of the quantitative aspects of drug delivery and it deals with the process of turning a new chemical entity (NCE) into a medication to be used safely and effectively by the patients. It involves the design, development and evaluation of drugs in combination with an appropriate dosage form. Therefore Pharmaceutics is also called as the science of dosage form design.
A pharmaceutical scientist:
Characterizes physical properties of drugs.
Develops innovative delivery systems for drugs
Quantitatively evaluates drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacological activity in the living organism.
The department of Pharmaceutics promotes teaching and research of respective subject and thereby contributes to the health of citizens. Qualified, dedicated faculties of this department are always keen to show their talents by way of lectures, innovation in teachings and tutorials for making skilled, better and effective practical knowledgeable budding pharmacists.
Department of pharmaceutics is one of the key departments and is equipped with state of the art facilities to undertake research in drug development and delivery. The department has 3 Laboratories, separate machine room and pharmaceutical microbiology and biotechnology lab.
Machine Room - The Machine room is well furnished with sophisticated instruments as per AICTE & PCI norms used in pharmaceutical industries at different stages of formulation, production, quality control and packing like Tablet Punching Machine, Capsule Filling Machine, Ampoule Washing, Ampoule Filling & Sealing Machine, and more. These instruments impart practical training for preparation of various pharmaceutical dosage forms like NDDS, Tablets, Capsule, Ointments, Parenterals, Liquid orals and Packaging Science
