This specialty is concerned with the prevention and correction of dentofacial deformities. Dentofacial deformities include protrusion of teeth, irregularities of teeth, abnormal dental and jaw relationships, abnormalities of the size and shape of jawbones and congenital deformities like clefts of lip and palate. dental and jaw relationship is essential for normal oral functions like chewing, swallowing, and speech. Dentofacial deformities can also produce farreaching psychosocial problems.
There are three modalities of treatment in orthodontics to correct dentofacial deformities. They are orthodontic treatment, growth modification treatment and surgical orthodontic treatment. Department is also well equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation. Strict aseptic precautions are taken to ensure prevention of crossinfection.
